What About Printer Status Indicator (PSI)
I wrote this program because I was printing some very large ASCII text
files on a printer with a small print buffer. I wanted to know how much
of the file had been printed and how much remained. That inspired me to
write this program.
PSI is easy to use. If you put PSI.EXE in your C:\UTILITY directory, and
make sure that the directory is in your PATH (see your DOS manual), all
you have to do is type:
PSI [filename.ext] [/LPTx] <ENTER>
optional (default is LPT1)--┘
Of course make sure that your printer is on line and there is paper in
it. You must be logged into the directory containing the file you want
to print. You may print to LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3. Once the file is being
printed, you may stop it at any time by pressing <Q>. You may also shell
out by pressing <S>, run other programs, copy files, etc., then type
<ENTER> to return to PSI.
There will be a graphic display of the percentage of the file that is
printed. The length of the file and the number of bytes already printed
will also be displayed.
Shareware
Please feel free to share this product with your friends, co-workers,
post it on BBS, etc. All I ask is that you include this file along with
the PSI.EXE file.
Since this is a shareware product. You may use it for one month to
evaluate it. If you like the program, and want to continue to use it,
you must send me the registration fee of $8.00. This grants you a single
user license. You may then use PSI on as many computers as you use. Contact
me at the address below for multi-user license fees. If you do not register
after the evaluation period you must discontinue use of it, and you must
remove it from any hard drive(s) that you have installed it on.
